Customizing your Planner App Icon (iPad)

Customizing your Planner App Icon (iPad)

One of my favorite ways to personalize my iPad setup is by changing my annotation app icon to match my planner theme. You can use one of your planner covers (a simple screenshot will work) or any other image as a custom app icon.

To create your icon, make sure the Shortcuts app is installed on your iPad, then follow the steps below.

Open the Shortcuts app
Tap the + button to create a new shortcut. Name the shortcut after the annotation app you use for your planner, such as Goodnotes, Notability, and Noteful!

Choose “Open App”
In the right-side panel, select Open App.

Select your annotation app
Tap the app field and choose the app you use to open your planner.

Add the shortcut to your Home Screen
Tap the small info icon and choose Add to Home Screen.

Customize the icon image
A pop-up will appear where you can choose a custom image. Select the image you’d like to use as your app icon, then tap Add.

Your new custom icon will now appear on your Home Screen. Tapping it will open your planner app, but with an icon that beautifully matches your planner theme!
